The brook rises 393 m above sea level east of the Marienheid district of Griemeringhausen and flows in a south-easterly direction through the corridor In der Uelenbeck to the Wipper, where it joins the corridor Hammerwiese at 378 m height after 230 meters .
Nature reserve
The course of the brook lies entirely in the 21 hectare nature reserve Wipperaue Eulenbecke (identification: GM-077, CDDA code: 344819). The protected status was made partly due to the maintenance and development of near-natural streams and wetland areas with alder riparian forests and wet grassland broke .
economy
The area around the mouth of the Uelenbeck was a regional center for iron smelting from the 12th to the 16th century . Eleven mass huts were found in the area during excavations in 1986. Numerous earth structures and slag heaps can still be seen there today.
