Today's Kelterei Possmann GmbH & Co. KG, which was known as Possmann's Aepfelwein around 1910, is an apple wine press based in Frankfurt-Rödelheim and is one of the world's market leaders. The winery is one of the few companies that also process spearlings from their own trees . The company has been a family business since it was founded.

history

The Possmann press was founded by the wine cooper Philipp Possmann in Rödelheim in 1881. Initially, restaurants in the area were supplied. In 1937 a bottling plant was built in Eschborner Landstrasse , where the company's headquarters are still today.

After the Second World War , the facilities that had been completely destroyed in the air raids on Frankfurt am Main were rebuilt, with so -called submarine storage tanks being installed for the juice as a special feature . In 1947 the brothers Werner E. Ch. Possmann and Fritz Possmann discovered three Type XXI submarines being manufactured in Frankfurt's Westhafen and acquired the pressure vessels, which with a capacity of 418,000 liters offered 100% more volume than conventional ones. These consist of 25 mm Krupp steel compared to the usual 5 mm, have been converted into tanks, thus have five times the material thickness of conventional tanks and can be overlaid with 10 bar pressure.

In 1978 a new bottling plant for around 20 million liters of cider and apple juice was built and has been in operation ever since.
