Ugo Amaldi

Ugo Amaldi (born April 18, 1875 in Verona , † November 11, 1957 in Rome ) was an Italian mathematician .

After he had completed his mathematics studies with Salvatore Pincherle at the age of 23 , he became Professor of Algebra and Analytical Geometry at the University of Cagliari five years later (1903) .

In 1906 he moved to the University of Modena , in 1919 to Padua and finally in 1924 to Rome , first at the Faculty of Architecture (until 1942), then to the Faculty of Natural Sciences . He mainly worked on group theory .

His son and grandson are the two physicists Edoardo Amaldi and Ugo Amaldi .
