Uli Kürner

Uli Kürner (* 1961 in Bräunlingen ) is a German jazz guitarist and installation artist.

Life and work

Kürner graduated from the Fürstenberg-Gymnasium Donaueschingen in 1982 . He then studied art history at the University of Freiburg from 1983 to 1985 , then jazz guitar at the Hilversum Conservatory until 1990 and painting at the Hogeschool voor de kunsten in Utrecht from 1991 to 1995 , where he has lived since then.

In his multimedia installations he combines abstract geometric forms with music he composed himself. Works by him have been shown at Centraal Museum Utrecht (2002), Künstlerhaus Dortmund ( Come Together , 2006), Forum Free Theater in Düsseldorf and Salon Utrecht ( a flexible posturban space construction , 2008).

Since 2004 he has been active in the artist collective Weltausstellung (Thilo Schölpen, Robert Schleisiek , Uwe Möllhusen , Anja Lautermann , Peter Issig , Dirk Ferdinand and Stefan Juerke), which presents concerts and multimedia performances and installations. With the group he participated, among other things, with the video sound installation Network city at the Night of Museums in Düsseldorf, a performance at the arte regional4 in Osnabrück, a sound installation at the New Media Art Festival Ping3 in Andratx, Mallorca, and with a concert at the exhibition artists , guests, house in the Künstlerhaus Dortmund.
