Ulrich Bielefeld

Ulrich Bielefeld (* 1951 ) is a German sociologist .

Life

He studied sociology and social history at the University of Munich . From 1982 to 1987 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology in Darmstadt and advisor to the Council of Europe . From 1988 to 2017 he worked at the Hamburg Institute for Social Research and was a private lecturer at the Institute for Sociology at the TU Darmstadt . In 2001 he was visiting scholar at the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme and lecturer at various institutions, including the institutes for sociology at the universities of Frankfurt am Main , Hamburg and Hanover .

His main topics are collectivity and political sociology, majorities and minorities, migration and racism.
