Ulrich Busch (born January 22, 1951 in Magdeburg ) is a German finance scientist and university professor of economics .

Career

Ulrich Busch was born in Magdeburg in 1951. He attended an extended secondary school (EOS) here from 1965 to 1969 and completed vocational training as a banker at the same time . In 1969 he passed his Abitur . He then began studying public finance at the Humboldt University of Berlin (HUB), which he graduated with a diploma in 1973 .

It was followed from 1973 to 1976 a research study that he and the promotion of Doctor of Economics (Dr. oec.) With a dissertation on "need development and money income" ended.

Employment

Busch began his professional activity in 1976 as a research assistant at the economics faculty of the HUB. He then switched to the practice and worked from 1977 to 1981 as director for training and further education at the State Bank of the GDR in Berlin. At the same time he worked as a lecturer at the HUB and acquired his teaching qualification ( Facultas Docendi ) in 1980 .

In 1981 he moved back to the HUB and worked as a senior scientific assistant until 1986 . In 1984 he completed his habilitation in the field of economics with a thesis on "Money Accumulation and Economic Proportionality". sc. oec. His academic achievement was recognized by the faculty as a habilitation in 1997 .

In 1987 he was appointed university lecturer (equivalent to C3 professor ) at the economics faculty of the HUB. He became head of the “Money and Credit” working group and participated in interdisciplinary research projects and university reform projects.

In the course of the reunification in 1989/1990, Busch actively participated in the restructuring of teaching and the rebuilding of the economics faculty at the HUB. In 1992 he became the acting director of the Institute for Economics . After the faculty was reconstituted on January 1, 1993, he was transferred to a new position. From 1998 to 2001 he was involved in research on an extensive DFG project "West-East Transfers". In 2002 Busch worked at the Institute for Regional Development and Structural Planning (IRS) in Erkner near Berlin.

Busch also worked as a guest lecturer at the Free University of Berlin , as a deputy professor at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and as a lecturer at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

In addition, he carried out teaching and research stays abroad: at Charles University in Prague , at the University of Finance in Saint Petersburg , at the Budapest University of Economics , at the Rijksuniversitair Centrum Antwerp , at the Université de Vincennes-Saint-Denis ( Paris VIII), at the ETH Zurich and the New School for Social Research New York .

Busch was the editor in charge of the magazine "Utopie Kreativ" and is editor of the social and humanities journal "Berliner Debatte Initial".

From 2005 to 2009 Busch was the coordinator of East Germany research at the “Center for Technology and Society” (ZTG) at the TU Berlin . Other activities to be emphasized are: participation in the socio-economic reporting at the Sociological Research Institute (SoFi) of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen , participation in the working group alternative economic policy (memorandum), membership of the working group “political economy” as well as the working group “society analysis” of Leibniz -Ociety.
