Ulrich Dreesen

Ulrich Dreesen (* 1952 in Bonn ) is a former German ambassador .

Life

Ulrich Dreesen studied law at the University of Bonn from 1970 to 1976, and in 1977 he joined the foreign service at the Foreign Ministry in Bonn. From 1979 to 1982 he was a member of the Legation Council in the Economic and Commercial Department of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Buenos Aires. From 1982 to 1985 he was employed at the Foreign Ministry in Bonn as Legation Councilor 1st class in the Politics department. From 1985 to 1988 Dreesen was Deputy Ambassador in Port of Spain to Trinidad and Tobago; From 1988 to 1989 Dreesen headed the legal and consular department of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bucharest in Romania. From 1989 to 1991 Dreesen was ambassador to Bangui Central African Republic. From 1992 to 1994 Dreesen headed the office of the Minister of State in the Foreign Office, Helmut Schäfer . From 2000 to 2002 he headed a section in the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2002 to 2005 Dreesen was director of the German Institute Taipei . From 2005 to 2007 he represented Germany as ambassador to Mongolia.

Ulrich Dreesen has been married since 1980.
