Ulrich Hebenstreit

Ulrich Hebenstreit (born August 3, 1947 in Schöntal Abbey ) is a German lawyer . Until 2012 he was a judge at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH).

education

Hebenstreit graduated from high school in Mühlacker (today Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium Mühlacker ) in 1966 . After that he was a temporary soldier for two years .

From 1969 to 1974 he completed his law studies with a focus on commercial, corporate, competition and antitrust law at the University of Tübingen . Parallel to the subsequent legal clerkship , he was a research assistant to Klaus J. Hopt at the chair for civil, commercial and international private law. After passing the Second State Examination in 1976 in Baden-Württemberg , he joined the judiciary in that state.

Career

Initially, Hebenstreit was a judge at the Stuttgart Regional Court (jury court, commercial criminal chamber and criminal appeal chamber), then a public prosecutor at the Stuttgart public prosecutor's office. From 1981 to 1983 he was seconded to the Federal Ministry of Justice , where he worked in the area of ​​family law. He then returned to the Stuttgart Regional Court as a judge (civil chamber, commercial criminal chamber and small criminal chamber) and was temporarily seconded to the Stuttgart Public Prosecutor's Office. In 1990 he was promoted to judge at the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court , where he was responsible for both appeals and first-instance proceedings. From 1992 Hebenstreit was presiding judge at the Stuttgart regional court (commercial criminal chamber, chamber for tax consultants) and a non-permanent member of the service court of the state of Baden-Württemberg, the latter until 1995. He was also a member of the presidium of the Stuttgart regional court from 1996 to 2000.

Hebenstreit was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice in 2000 and has since been a member of the 1st Criminal Senate . In addition, he was an investigative judge at the BGH until 2008, from 2007 to 2009 a member of the Presidium of the Federal Court of Justice and from 2009 construction commissioner of the BGH. Since October 1, 2012, he has retired after reaching the age limit.

Sideline

From 1991 to 2000, Hebenstreit was deputy chairman of the professional court of the Stuttgart Chamber of Dentists. During this time he was also an examiner in state law examinations and temporarily lecturer at the University of Public Administration and Finance in Ludwigsburg .

Volunteering

Hebenstreit has been chairman of the association "Freundeskreis Jevpatorija eV" Ludwigsburg ( Evpatorija is a twin town of Ludwigsburg) since 1998 . Since 2001 he has also been the chairman of the “Social Counseling Ludwigsburg eV - Meeting Point Information Advice”, an organization for criminal assistance and crime prevention. Since 2009 he has been a member of the foundation board of the Ludwigsburg community foundation.

He is married for the second time and has two grown daughters from his first marriage.
