Ulrich Klöti

Ulrich Klöti (born June 5, 1943 in Bern , † February 5, 2006 in Wermatswil near Uster ) was a Swiss political scientist .

Life

After graduating from high school in Neuchâtel , Ulrich Klöti studied sociology , economics and political science at the University of Bern , Princeton University and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor , USA . In 1972, he was with a work The chief official of the Swiss Federal Administration - Sociological cross sections in the years 1938, 1955 and 1969, when Erich Gruner doctorate . In 1973 Klöti entered the Swiss federal service and was an adjunct in the executive secretariat of the federal chancellery .

In 1980 Klöti was appointed associate professor to the newly founded chair for domestic and comparative politics at the University of Zurich . In 1986 he was made full professor of political science and was also head of the institute from 1988 to 2000. He was also involved in the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences, of which he was Vice President from 1991 to 1997. He was also a research councilor at the Swiss National Science Foundation.

In 2004 Klöti became Vice President of the University of Zurich for teaching. One of his most important commitments was the fundamental renewal of the courses within the implementation of the Bologna reform.

The Handbook of Swiss Politics , which he (co-) edited , became a standard work.
