Ulrich Knörr

Ulrich Knörr (* 1960 in Ansbach ) is a German Protestant church musician and organist . He is the current regional church music director of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria .

Life

Ulrich Knörr studied Protestant church music at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Klemens Schnorr (organ), Franz Massinger (piano), Max Frey (choir direction), Robert Maximilian Helmschrott (composition), as well as with Diethard Hellmann and Fritz Schieri .

In 1983 he won the second prize at the International Competition for Young Church Musicians in Fürth . From 1984 he was a church musician at St. Mang in Kempten for ten years . He was appointed church music director in 1993. In 1994 he went to St. Jakob in Rothenburg ob der Tauber as Dean of the Dean and Director of the International Organ Concerts . He also taught the history of Protestant church music and choral literature for many years at the Musikhochschule in Munich . In 2011 he was appointed deputy regional church music director of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria .

He has been the regional church music director since February 1st, 2017. He took over the office from his predecessor Michael Lochner .
