Ulrich Maiden

Ulrich Mädge (* 11. June 1950 in Vienenburg ) is a German politician of the SPD . Mädge has been Lord Mayor of the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg since 1991 . Ulrich Mädge is married and has two children.

Professional background

1966–1969, Mädge trained as an electrician and office clerk. He then worked as a contract soldier in Lüneburg for twelve years. From 1979 to 1982 he attended the technical college for administration and then Mädge studied until 1985 at the technical college for administration in Hanover; He completed his studies with a degree in administrative management (FH). From 1985 to 1996 he was a senior civil servant in the Lüneburg district.

Political career

Maiden joined the SPD in 1979. In 1981 he was first elected to the City Council of Lüneburg. From 1986 to 1991 he was parliamentary group leader of the SPD in the city council. In 1991 he became honorary mayor of the city of Lüneburg, and has been a full-time mayor since 1996. He was last confirmed in this office with 71% in the runoff election on June 15, 2014.

Ulrich Mädge was President of the Lower Saxony City Council for two years from 1998, 2002, 2008 and 2013.

Memberships

Ulrich Mädge is a member of the ver.di trade union and the AWO . He is also a member of various supervisory boards, e. B. at the regional supplier E.ON Avacon and the Sparkasse Lüneburg , as well as chairman of the supervisory board of Lüneburger Wohnungsbau GmbH. Since February 2018 he has been President of the Lower Saxony City Council again (as of April 1, 2019). In addition, Mädge was elected President of the VKA at the general meeting of the Association of Municipal Employers' Associations on March 22, 2019.
