Ulrich Moritz (draftsman)

Ulrich Moritz (* 1949 in Weinsberg ) is a German draftsman and cultural scientist .

life and work

Ulrich Moritz grew up in Stuttgart . He left the city in 1974 and settled in Berlin to study , where he still lives today.

Moritz draws natural objects and landscapes with colored pencil on paper in an almost ' old master ' tradition. His works find great interest in literary and journalistic circles of artists. The art world but he avoids largely and the art market , he defies all. The weekly newspaper “ Die Zeit ” dedicated the issue of its supplement “ ZEITmagazin ” from March 15, 2012 to the artist Ulrich Moritz, with articles by Hans Magnus Enzensberger , Anita Albus , Sibylle Lewitscharoff , Martin Mosebach , Hanns Zischler and Katharina Enzensberger .

Today the draftsman and cultural scientist works at the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin. In the historical office of the museum, Ulrich Moritz devotes himself to transcribing the travel diaries of the botanist Friedrich Sello (1789–1831). Moritz is involved as editor, editor and author of publications on the history of the museum for the Museum für Naturkunde.

Exhibitions

A first exhibition of his works was shown from December 2013 to January 2014 in the project room of Wolff Verlag in Berlin Unter den Linden .
