Ulrich Niemann

Ulrich Johann Niemann SJ (born January 26, 1935 in Goslar ; † June 30, 2008 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German Jesuit and specialist in neurology and psychiatry , psychosomatics and university professor .

Life

Ulrich Niemann joined the Jesuit order in 1957 after medical studies . After his studies (Lic. Phil. Et theol.) And ordination in 1966 he finished his medical studies at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster . He was an assistant doctor for psychiatry in Essen with Max-Paul Engelmeier (1972/76) and with Hans Joachim Lehmann (1976/79) at the University Hospital Essen. In 1985 he was at the University of Essen with the work of suicide risk and the meaning of life - a psychiatric-statistical study to Dr. med. PhD .

In 1975 he received a call for medical ethics in the context of moral theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Georgen . For more than fourteen years, Niemann was the organizer of the “Sankt Georgener Ärztegesprche”.

In 1990 he passed his exams as a psychoanalyst and worked as a doctor, psychotherapist, psychoanalyst and priest until his death. He was an advisor to the German Bishops 'Conference and a consultant in the working group “New Religious Movements and Organizations” of the Swiss Bishops' Conference. He was a member of the German Society for Psychoanalysis, Psychotherapy, Psychosomatics and Depth Psychology e. V. (DGPT) and in the German Working Group for Group Psychotherapy and Group Dynamics (DAGG) as well as the Deutsche Balintgesellschaft e. V. He was a member of the VKDSt Hasso-Rhenania Mainz in the CV .

Considered an expert in the fields of obsession and exorcism, Niemann published several academic papers and articles.
