Ulrich Schiessl
Ulrich Schießl (* 1948 in Wittenberge ; † July 25, 2011 in Dresden ) was a German art historian and restorer .

After studying art history in Munich and Vienna, he completed his doctorate in 1977 with a thesis on "The polychromy of sacred furnishings of the South German Rococo with special consideration of the pictorial works". This was followed by a study of restoration at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart in the course "Restoration and Technology of paintings and polychrome sculptures «with a degree as a qualified restorer. From 1981 to 1993 Schießl was the coordinator of the newly founded specialist class for conservation and restoration at the Higher Technical School for Design in Bern and from 1984 to 1988 he was the project manager for "Investigations into the promotion of preservation and restoration processes on decorative paintings and their immobile picture carrier wood" at the National Program 16 of the Swiss National Science Foundation for the Promotion of Scientific Research . From 1995 to 1997 he headed the research project "Historical technology and conservation problems of casts and sculptural models made of plaster, with special emphasis on the Albertinum's cast collection ". Ulrich Schießl has been Dean of Studies and a member of the Academic Senate since 2005.
Schießl held a professorship at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (HfBK) in Dresden from 1993 and was its rector from 1996 to 2005.
Ulrich Schießl died on July 25, 2011 and was buried in Regensburg in the Dreifaltigkeitsberg cemetery.
Since 1968 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Rupertia Regensburg in the Cartell Association .
