Uludag Gazoz
Uludağ Gazoz ( colloquially often called Uludağ or Gazoz for short) is a soft drink from the Turkish manufacturer Erbak-Uludağ İçecek A.Ş. based in Bursa . The carbonated lemonades ( Gazoz ) are also known in other countries, especially the green bottles or cans, which are offered in addition to Turkish retail stores and snacks also at large food retail chains .
The brand goes back to the development of the classic Uludağ Gazoz in 1930. In addition to the classic flavor (mixed fruit flavor), Uludağ Gazoz orange, pomegranate (still) and tangerine (still) are traded. The drinks are exported to over 30 countries around the world (as of 2018).
The manufacturer Erbak-Uludağ İçecek A.Ş. generated sales of 200 million in 2013 dollars .
Naming
The name stands for the mountain Uludağ in western Turkey, of which a drawing is shown on the beverage labels. In the past, the drink was made exclusively with spring water from this mountain. Gazoz stands for a type of lemonade typical of Turkey, of which Uludağ Gazoz is only one brand, although it is probably the best known. The word gazoz , based on the French gazeuse or English gaseous , also generally refers to carbonated lemonade of any kind that is sweetened in the Turkish language.
Flavor
In terms of taste, the standard version that is mainly sold is often compared with Sprite or 7 Up . However, the standard version is a lemonade with a mixed fruit flavor. (On the German label, this is marked with "Refreshing drink with fruit flavor", which is a literal translation of the original Turkish version.) In addition, the taste is reminiscent of the aroma of many types of chewing gum, which is why it often called "chewing gum lemonade" or something similar.
