Umerkote (also Umarkot ) is a city in the east Indian state of Odisha .
Umerkote is located in the area of the Eastern Ghats at an altitude of 615 m in the northwest of the Nabarangpur district near the border with Chhattisgarh .
The city has had the status of a municipality since March 3, 2014 . In the 2011 census, Umerkote had 28,993 inhabitants.
The Odisha trunk road 39 connects Umerkote with the district capital of Nabarangpur, 60 km south-southeast .
