The Bisamberg substation is a substation located in the Lower Austrian municipality of Stetten , which is operated by the Austrian Power Grid (APG) and serves to supply the regions in northern and eastern Lower Austria and the north of the federal capital Vienna with electrical energy . It is a junction in the 380 kV high-voltage ring and comprises several outdoor switchgear on an area of approx. 19 hectares . It was built between 1943 and 1948, expanded between 1988 and 1990 and expanded in 2005 to include the facility for the 400 kV north feed in Vienna .

Workshops and storage rooms for the mobile maintenance team and the line fitters of APG are located in the area of the system. The facility also has an operating track to the Korneuburg – Hohenau local railway , which is used to transport the power transformers .

In addition to the extensive outdoor switchgear for 380  kV , 220 kV and 110 kV, a gas-insulated switchgear for 110 kV has existed in the substation since 2006 . There are also three busbars for 380 kV, two busbars for 220 kV, which form the connection lines to the Danube power plants , and three busbars for 110 kV.

Five grid coupling transformers with a total output of 1020  MVA are installed between the 220 kV and 110 kV levels . For static reactive power compensation on the 110 kV level, a choke coil and capacitor battery each with 50  MVAr are available. There are also so-called earth fault extinguishing coils for earth fault compensation on the site .
