action

Berkeley is a small backwoods town in Australia whose main source of income is fishing. After a hail of meteorites descending on Berkeley, a terrible thing happens: the dead walk on earth and attack the living to turn them into zombies as well . Five travelers are attacked by zombies during their journey and thanks to the courageous fisherman Marion they can save themselves on his farm. Despite strong resistance, the zombies crowd into the house and the survivors into a protective cellar specially created for this opportunity - Marion has already had an eerie encounter.

Although the six are safe in the basement, tensions soon build up. First there is the authoritarian and sexist Sergeant Harrison, who is completely overwhelmed with the situation and therefore insists on nonsensical orders. The police officer, Molly, who is subordinate to him, is even less able to cope with the situation and most of the time just stands motionless in the way. The cowardly pilot Wayne only generally contributes to the chaos, but his heavily pregnant friend Sallyanne lets her fear and frustration out on the bankrupt farmer and "fish princess" Rene, because Sallyanne would have liked to become a "fish princess" herself. The stubborn Marion insists that this is the end of the world because the aliens wanted to conquer the world. When Sallyanne goes into labor, Marion is forced to leave and she shoots her way to the car.

The way from the city to the hospital is blocked by a huge black wall. Harrison decides to climb over. While the group is still indecisively watching, Marion realizes that it will rain - the rain is not only painful, but also casts an eerie light on the wet ones, which are then drawn into the sky. Also, some of the group seem sick - a virus is spreading. Rene tries to get the others into the car, but Molly seems to have suddenly turned into a zombie. Then the rain starts and Harrison falls. Marion tries to get Molly into the car, but she is already too wet - the light brings her into the sky. The remaining four decide to fly over the wall by plane.

Before that, you get supplies in the city. After another skirmish with zombies, strange, glowing creatures approach the group and let Marion go into the sky. The rest escape to the airfield. There you have to deal with zombies again. While Rene and Sallyanne flee with the car, Wayne tries to fly away with the plane. Sallyanne is now so wet that the beam of light catches her and tries to pull her up into the sky, but since she is in the car, this does not succeed. However, the car comes off the road. Sallyanne is then pulled out of the wreck. Then the glowing beings approach Rene and reveal themselves as aliens who use the rain and the light beam to repair the damage. Rene can also be dragged to heaven. The aliens leave, believing that they have dragged all the zombies and sick people to heaven for healing. Meanwhile, Wayne breaks through the cloud cover with the plane and races into a group of people floating there - Molly breaks through the windshield. The plane crashes beyond the wall.

The humans sink to earth healed and confused and the aliens fly away. In Berkeley the situation is chaotic but apparently secure. Rene is talking to Sallyanne and Marion in the hospital. While Rene believes in the rescue by the aliens, Marion thinks that they staged a field test; he wants to prepare better for the next time. Meanwhile, the seriously ill Wayne has snuck into the hospital. He dies, gets up again as a zombie and bites Marion in the neck.
Some time has passed. Rene has taken command. The last survivors are on their farm. In front of the farm is an enclosure with countless zombies. Rene is a firm believer in the aliens' rescue.

Reviews

The film received mostly negative reviews: On Rotten Tomatoes only 32% of the counted reviews were evaluated as positive. In summary, it says: "This low-budget homage to the zombie genre borrows its ideas from stronger predecessors and feeds on its own campiness - neither original nor interesting enough to entertain."

"The under-produced horror film strings together the usual splatter effects and quickly loses sight of the absurd story."
