The Ges.mbH Unger Steel is an Austrian family in the executive building industry . The company has three business areas: steel construction , general contracting and real estate . The headquarters of the group of companies with a production plant is located in Oberwart in southern Burgenland . The second production facility is located in the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. Every year around 70,000 tons of steel are processed in these plants and exported worldwide.

The Unger Steel Group has more than 20 branches in Western, Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The company employs 1,200 people in these offices. OOO Unger Steel has had an office in Moscow since 1992 . Customers in Russia and neighboring countries are served from there . The core markets of the corporate group are Austria, Germany , Russia, Romania and the UAE.

history

Josef Unger, the current managing director and owner of Unger Stahlbau GmbH, took over his father's locksmith's business founded in 1952 with seven employees in 1986. The construction of the Davis Cup hall in the Schwarzl leisure center in Unterpremstätten was decisive for the company's breakthrough . In the following 20 years the establishment of an internationally operating company succeeded. In 1993 subsidiaries were founded in Berlin and Budapest. In the following year branches were set up in Vienna and Amman. After opening up the Eastern European market in 1995, a branch in Moscow and a subsidiary in Bucharest were founded in 1998 . Among other things, the Unger Group implemented turnkey construction projects in the former COMECON countries.

In 2001 branches in Innsbruck and Vienna as well as the subsidiary Unger Immobilien GmbH were established. This offers services in the field of profitability analysis, real estate development, financing and facility management . In 2004 the first hotel COM.INN, a low-budget design hotel with 24-hour booking options, was opened in Güssing, southern Burgenland. In 2006 the subsidiary was founded in Sharjah (United Arab Emirates). In the following year, the new steel construction production and the office complex in Sharjah went into operation and a further expansion step was made with the opening of a subsidiary in Bosnia . In 2009 the entire company was certified according to ISO 9001 : 2008 in all business areas. In the two years that followed, further expansion steps were taken in Germany with the opening of an office in Düsseldorf and a branch in Berlin . In 2012, production in Oberwart was expanded in order to be able to cover the increasing demand. In the following year a branch was opened in Linz .

Business areas

The core competencies of the group of companies are structural and architectural steel construction, the turnkey realization of entire objects and project development ( real estate ). As a general contractor, the company takes on the entire project control and project management. In the real estate division, Unger Immobilien GmbH offers strategic advice, holistic development, planning and implementation of own or third-party projects.
