United Trinity ( "Holy Trinity" ) is part of Manchester United's football culture for the trio of players George Best , Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton . You helped Manchester United win their first European Cup for an English club in 1968.

Charlton was one of the Busby Babes , a group of talented young players who made it to the professional ranks through the youth academy led by eponymous coach Matt Busby and assistant Jimmy Murphy . United scout Joe Armstrong discovered Bobby Charlton in 1953 and George Best in 1961. Dennis Law came from the Italian club Torino in 1962 for the club record fee of £ 115,000, which he had bought in 1961 from United's rivals Manchester City .

Charlton made his debut on October 6, 1956, where he scored twice in a 4-2 win over Charlton Athletic . Law made his debut on August 18, 1962, in which he was able to score a goal to 2-2 final score, against West Bromwich Albion . Best also made his debut against West Bromwich Albion, but not until September 14, 1963. In the second leg on January 18, 1964, the United Trinity played together for the first time. United won the game 4-1, with all three scored and Law even able to score two hits.

In the 1960s, all three won the Ballon d'Or Best Player of the Year award : Law 1964, Charlton 1966 and Best 1968. Since then, only Cristiano Ronaldo has been able to win this award as a United player in 2008. Together, the United Trinity has scored 665 goals in 1,633 games.

"Right away, you could see the great chemistry between them. Great players know how to play together. However tough the match was, you always knew Bobby could unleash one of his strikes from God-knows-where. Dennis would something out of nothing inside the box or George would just do something magical. "
