Patrick Timothy Crerand (born February 19, 1939 in Glasgow ), nicknames: Paddy , Pat , is a former Scottish football player and coach .

Career

Player career

After six years at Celtic FC , Crerand moved to Manchester United in 1963 . Five years after the airplane tragedy in Munich , he made his debut for the English. He was a very tough defensive midfielder. It was said that despite players like George Best or Bobby Charlton , Crerand was the heart of the team.

He became champions with Manchester in 1965 and 1967. He also won the English Cup in 1963 and the Champions League in 1968. Pat Crerand played 401 times for United and scored 19 goals.

Internationally, he played 16 times for the Scottish national football team . Crerand is of Irish descent but chose to play for Scotland.

Further career

From 1976 to 1977 he was the coach of Northampton Town . Today Crerand is co-commentator at United's own broadcaster MUTV.
