University judge
University judges were civil servants with judicial qualifications who pronounced justice at universities within the framework of academic jurisdiction .
German Confederation
The jurisdiction in the context of academic jurisdiction was originally the responsibility of the rector or the senate of the respective university . Since the beginning of the German Confederation, the federal states have often regulated that this task should be transferred to the newly created office of university judge. Chamber remained part of the academic senate.
In connection with the persecution of demagogues in particular , the work of the university judges (mostly pejorative ) was described in public.
After the entry into force of the Courts Constitution Act
The Courts Constitution Act of 1877 largely abolished academic jurisdiction, only disciplinary power over students remained. The academic senates or university judges were charged with exercising this disciplinary power, depending on the state law.
