Konrad Gesterding

Johann Friedrich Conrad Gesterding (born June 16, 1848 in Greifswald ; † January 6, 1917 ibid) was a German judge and administrative lawyer in the province of Pomerania .

Life

Gesterding was the son of the doctor Carl Julius Gottlieb Gesterding (1815–1871) and grandson of the Greifswald mayor Carl Gesterding . He began to study law at the Royal University of Greifswald and was active in the Corps Pomerania Greifswald in 1869 . As an inactive he moved to the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Friedrichs-Universität Halle . From 1872 he worked as a trainee lawyer at courts in Greifswald, Torgau and Naumburg (Saale) . In 1877 he became a court assessor and district judge in Massow in the Naugard district . In the same year he moved to Wolgast as a district judge . From there he went to Greifswald in 1878, where he became director of the city and port police. As a part-time job , he worked as a university judge from 1881 and introduced new prison regulations . Gesterding was a member of the Greifswald city council and sat from 1897 on the presentation of the city of Greifswald in the Prussian mansion .

He was married to Clara Tessmann (1850–1924), a daughter of the mayor Daniel Joachim Christian Teßmann (1803–1886), and had two children with her. Konrad Gesterding was buried in the Greifswald old cemetery .
