The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (also called (UAPB) ) is a state university in Pine Bluff in the center of the US state of Arkansas . 3331 students are enrolled at the university. Since 1972 it has been part of the University of Arkansas system . After the University of Arkansas , it is the second oldest state university in Arkansas. She is best known for her research in aquaculture .

history

The university was founded in 1873 as a Branch Normal College for African American and is one of the Historic African American Colleges and Colleges . It was renamed Arkansas Agricultural, Mechanical & Normal College (AM&N) in 1927 . In 1972 it became part of the University of Arkansas system under its current name .

Sports

The UAPB sports teams are the Golden Lions . The university is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference .
