University of Arkansas at Monticello

The University of Arkansas at Monticello (also called UAM ) is a state university in Monticello in the southeast of the US state Arkansas . 2942 students are enrolled at the university. Since 1971 it has been part of the University of Arkansas system .

history

The university was founded as the Fourth District Agricultural School in 1910 and was renamed Arkansas Agricultural and Mechanical College in 1925 . It received its current name when it joined the University of Arkansas System in 1971. In 2003 the UAM College of Technology-Crossett and the UAM College of Technology-McGehee were integrated into the UAM.

Sports

The UAM sports teams are the Bollweevils . The university is a member of the Gulf South Conference.
