Unter-Mengelbach is a settlement in the district of Zotzenbach in the municipality of Rimbach in the Bergstrasse district in southern Hesse .

The settlement is located in the Odenwald five kilometers south of Rimbach. The district road 21 runs through the village. Unter-Mengelbach and Zotzenbach form a common area, which is 7.68 km².

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1820. It was listed in the statistics of the Grand Duchy of Hesse as "courtyards belonging to Zotzenbach".

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Unter-Mengelbach in 1829:

»Untermengelbach (L. Bez. Lindenfels) Hof; belongs to Zotzenbach and consists of 3 farm apartments and 1 day laborer's house. "

In 1867, five houses with 55 inhabitants were counted for Unter-Mengelbacher Höfe.
