Under the Skin is a Swiss film by Claudia Lorenz from 2015. The film opened in theaters in Switzerland on February 26, 2015, and in Germany on November 19, 2015.
The move to the new house in the country is set to revive Frank and Alice's relationship after 18 years of marriage. At first it seems to work, but when Alice comes across a dating site for homosexuals in the browser history of her computer, the family picture begins to shake. Alice first suspects that her teenage son is testing his sexual orientation, but it quickly becomes apparent that her husband Frank has secret inclinations. He also gets to know Pablo, to whom he feels drawn.
The film service judges that the "chamber play-like drama is told primarily from the woman's point of view with lifelike dialogues and a keen sense for nuances and maintains her dignity even in the most revealing moments". The only criticism is “the preference for symbolic storytelling”, which “sometimes diminishes the sensitive, morally non-judgmental staging”.
The film received a nomination for Grand Jury Prize (New Voices / New Visions) at the Palm Springs International Film Festival 2015. When Swiss Film Prize 2015 was also Ursina Lardi nominated as best actress.
