Unterbrand used to be a part of the market in Neuhaus an der Pegnitz in the district of Nürnberger Land in Middle Franconia .

description

The former wasteland was in the upper Pegnitz valley north of Ranna . The place was in the 1960 designated closer protection zone of the drinking water protection area . Its inhabitants had to leave ancient cultivated land to supply the city of Nuremberg with drinking water. For a long time the water from the nearby Haselhof springs was no longer sufficient and new springs had to be tapped. The localities Fischstein , Oberbrand , Unterbrand and Rauhenstein therefore had to be dissolved. Between 1960 and 1975 all properties were demolished and the residents were relocated. At Oberbrand a boulder was erected as a memorial with the inscription "Remembrance of Ober- and Unterbrand 1450–1975".

In the north of Unterbrand are Oberbrand and Hasensee. Rauhenstein and the Kalvarienberg are in the east. Fischstein used to be located further north. In the north, near Fischstein, there is the natural monument Eulenloch , the Upper and Lower Kammerweiher , the Kammerberg (436 m) and the Dürrenberg (445 m).

Upper and lower fire were separated by the Nuremberg – Cheb railway line . The road bridge over the railroad tracks was replaced by a pedestrian bridge in the 2000s.
