The Hanover Entrepreneurship Center , also abbreviated to UZH or UZ Hanover , is a joint project initiated by women to promote self-employment . The facility operated by a not-for-profit GmbH also performs the regional tasks in the area of Lower Saxony for the nationwide start-up agency (bga) . The location of the center especially for women entrepreneurs in the state capital Hanover is Hohe Strasse 9 and 11 in the Hanover district of Linden-Mitte .

history

In 1997 several women got together to look for innovative ways to start a business . For the soon-to-be-sought center for women entrepreneurs, they first founded the sponsoring association Impuls & Praxis eV - Innovative ways for business start-ups .

After the first years of development in voluntary work, which was characterized by idealism and rough interactions between those involved, "by criticism and the courage to interfere," the association members were able to convince the municipal politicians and the city administration of Hanover to give them the municipal property in Hohe Straße 9 and 11 on the basis of a long-term lease agreement . A limited liability company was finally founded in 1999 to start the business activities of the female entrepreneurship center. With the help of the state capital Hanover, an economic development agency "and the support of the Equal Opportunities Office", the management of the UZH was able to start its work.

In 2000, the UZH was selected as the only women's business project from Lower Saxony that was presented as a globally oriented project during the World Exhibition Expo 2000 .

In 2008, the Hanover Entrepreneurship Center was recognized as a "particularly innovative and creative place" in the 365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas competition organized by the federal government and German business .

After the first 15 years of its existence, the UZH entrepreneurs jointly created an "anniversary magazine" which, in addition to keywords such as competencies , networks and synergies on the title page, also contained a description of the location in the subtitle:

"28 women, 15 industries , 5 nationalities and 1 goal: to be
successfully independent together!"
