Geographical location

The Untersambacher Mühle is located in the southeast of the Wiesentheider municipality on the Sambach . To the north is the town of Geesdorf, which also belongs to Wiesentheid, at some distance . The area of the city of Prichsenstadt begins in the east , Rüdern is closest to the mill. The southeast is taken by Untersambach. Further south is the Abtswind market . In the west, the federal road 286 separates the Wiesentheid market from the mill.

history

The mill was first mentioned in 1589. The Ilmbach Charterhouse acquired several lakes around the village of Untersambach in 1669. The mill later appeared in the monastery interest books . It is unclear, however, whether the mill paid interest to the Carthusian monastery or whether it already belonged to the community at that time. In the 17th century the Untersambach millers used the so-called Wiesentheider measures. The Untersambachers were given preference in grinding, but had to deliver firewood to the mill in return .

Until the 19th century it was accepted that the community gave the watermill to so-called stockers. Between 1805 and 1823 Johann Bätz held the mill and several fields in its vicinity. In 1833 Anselm Rößner married into the Bätz family and took over the mill after the death of Johann Bätz. He was followed by Johann Rößner, Franz Rößner senior, Franz Rößner junior, Josef Rößner and Franz Rößner. The family bought the property at the beginning of the 20th century.

In 1919 the mill was connected to the Untersambach local network, which cost the community 7,700 marks. On February 26, 1920, Franz Rößner junior built a new mill wheel . In 1955 the mill was connected to the Wiesentheider water pipe, and the Untersambach community maintained the facility. In 1962, however, the mill was without any water supply , so it was planned to connect the property to the long-distance water supply .
