The Castellbach is a left tributary of the Schwarzach between the Steigerwald and the Main Triangle in Lower Franconia . It arises near Atzhausen from the confluence of the Sambach and Gründleinsbach rivers.

Spring streams
Gründleinsbach
The Gründleinsbach rises near the gypsum karst spring Gründleinsloch near Castell . It flows in a north-westerly direction through Castell before it turns in a westerly direction at the Gründleinsmühle . The stream continues past the Casteller districts of Geiersmühle and Trautberg . It now runs as a district boundary between Rüdenhausen and Wiesenbronn in a north-west direction through the Rüdenhausen districts of Dinkelmühle and Eselsmühle . Finally, it reaches the municipality of Kleinlangheim , where more mills line the stream. At around 9 km in length, it is the shorter source stream.
Sambach
The source of the approximately 13 km long Sambach is located near the Federal Motorway 3 northwest of Geiselwind . It runs mainly in a westerly direction through Obersambach , Untersambach , past the Untersambacher Mühle , Wiesentheid and the Obere Papiermühle and joins the Gründleinsbach to form the Castellbach near Atzhausen .
course
After the confluence of the source streams, the Castellbach runs in a north-westerly direction through Düllstadt to Münsterschwarzach . There it flows through the grounds of the Münsterschwarzach Abbey , where it flows into the Schwarzach , about 700 m before it flows into the Main .
