Atzhausen is a district of the market Kleinlangheim in the district of Kitzingen and belongs to the administrative district of Lower Franconia in Bavaria .

geography

Atzhausen is a clustered village and is located about two kilometers north of the Kleinlangheim market, where Sambach and Gründleinsbach unite to form Castellbach .

In terms of natural surroundings, Atzhausen lies in the Albertshofener drift sand area with its typical plains and the field vegetable cultivation practiced here. It is part of the extensive Steigerwald foreland.

history

The ending of the place name indicates the Frankish conquest. The bailiwick was mentioned for the first time in 1230. Count Rupert II zu Castell received it as a fief from the Würzburg monastery. Castell's fiefs were held by the Knights of Dettelbach in the 14th century. In 1447, the Zollner von der Hallburg also transferred half of their village Atzhausen, including customs, to Count Castell. Count Wilhelm II. Sold it again in 1448, but kept the bailiwick.

When the residents of Kleinlangheim accepted the Reformation in 1530 , Atzhausen joined as it belonged to the parish of Kleinlangheim. With the transfer of rulership to the Catholic Counts of Dernbach , the community returned to the Catholic Church at their instigation. In 1680 the parish to Wiesentheid took place and from 1704 Atzhausen belonged to the domain of the House of Schönborn in the county of Wiesentheid . The village belonged to his property until 1806.

In 1972 the place was incorporated into Kleinlangheim. In the course of the Bavarian regional reform in 1978, Markt Kleinlangheim, Großlangheim and Wiesenbronn merged to form the Großlangheim administrative community.

Culture and sights

Catholic Church of St. Kilian

Architectural monuments

The Catholic Church of St. Kilian was built around 1748. It is a two-storey building with a mansard roof , stair tower and roof turret. The prayer house on the ground floor is still used as a church room. The classroom and teacher's apartment above have lost their former purpose. The church presents itself as a hall without a choir . The church has two window levels one above the other.

Two wayside shrines from the 18th century have survived in Atzhausen. On the way between Reupelsdorf and the village there is a wayside shrine from 1745 with a square base. The essay depicts the Holy Trinity . In 1956 the wayside shrine was renewed. Another wayside shrine also shows the Trinity. It was created in 1784 and the essay was later installed in the wall of a farm building. The younger wayside shrine was not re-qualified.

Mineral springs

There are two springs in the vicinity of Atzhausen , which in the past have repeatedly been ascribed a healing effect, as the water has a high mineral content. In 1962 a site survey was carried out by geologists for the first time . The so-called source at the Grötsch mill on the road between Feuerbach and Atzhausen near the eponymous Grötsch or Pfundmühle flows into the nearby Sambach. The Prinzregent-Luitpold -Quelle is located on the road between Atzhausen and Düllstadt and is derived into the Gründleinsbach. Both springs were walled over with round shafts in the 19th century and used by the population to draw drinking water. During extensive water analyzes of the two springs in 1970, it was found that the amounts of minerals are just below the required minimum value for medicinal water .

legend

A long time ago a great need came over the village: The people had to suffer from a great drought for years. There was no rain, instead the sun shone even more strongly on the fields of the village. In their distress, the families began to slaughter their animals. Each family was only given two goats . A shepherd boy was chosen. He drove the goats up to the last hill where there was still enough food to be found. Even after the drought was over, the Atzhäuser called the mountain "Geißberg".

Sports

The riding and driving club was founded in 1974. In 1998 he moved from Trautberg near Castell to Atzhausen. The association has more than 100 members from the Kitzingen district.
