To the west the community goes into the Geiselwind market . Abtswind is to the south and Wiesentheid is to the west. history
In the Middle Ages, Untersambach was part of the Würzburg Monastery for a long time before the Counts of Castell received the village as a fief. This was followed by the noble family of the Fuchs von Bimbach , who were enfeoffed in the place. The place was named after the river Sambach, which also flows through Wiesentheid. In the Thirty Years War Untersambach was almost completely wiped out by the Swedish troops. The legend reports that only one old woman is said to have survived the massacre.
After Untersambach had become a Bavarian rural community in the 19th century , the village came to the newly formed large community of Wiesentheid in 1978.
politics
Already in the early modern period, the village had a head of the so-called Schultheiss , who was appointed by the authorities . In 1767, for example, the mayors of Andreas Seyler, Philipp Karl Leuxner and Jörg Rösner were handed down. After the dissolution of the Würzburg monastery , the village received a chief who was elected by part of the population. The chiefs changed frequently, with Franz Knauer twice, in 1831 and 1845, being elected local board. From 1882 the village received a mayor.

Culture and sights
Architectural monuments
The branch church of the village was built in the 18th century and is dedicated to St. Barbara. A small, six-sided bell tower was added to the building. The altar , probably from a previous building, dates from the 17th century, a Madonna figure can be assigned to the Gothic of the 16th century. The 14 helpers in need are shown on a wayside shrine from 1839 in the form of a pyramid.
The village linden tree from the 19th century has been preserved in Untersambach. A typical Franconian courtyard gate with pine attachments is also worth seeing.
Say
The he-he
Between Wiesentheid and Geiselwind, there are several alder trees in a corridor on the old street in the Untersambach area . There used to be a lake there, around which a legend is entwined. A farmer from Oberschwarzach saw when he drove to Untersambach, once the so-called He-he, sitting on a horse, coming out of the lake. He rode to the Geesdorf boundary stone and then stopped. Then the farmer saw that He-he's horse had no head.
The eerie fire
A farmer from Untersambach drove with his son in the direction of Untersambach. He had brought wood to Kitzingen further away and it was already dark. At the height of the so-called Langengrunds meadows, both saw a light spot on the left in the forest. The farmer thought that the woodcutters had burned a small campfire and wanted to light a pipe from it . To do this, he sent his son to the place. He said: “Go over and get me a little tobacco fire!” The boy who was suspicious of the appearance refused and the farmer had to go himself. When he got to the spot, he saw a lion and a large dragon sitting opposite one another . A pile of gold sparkled between the animals and they both spat fire on it. The farmer ran back to the car and drove away quickly.
