The Fuchsmühle is a remote area in the district of Wiesent Heider hamlet Reupelsdorf in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .

Geographical location

The wasteland is in the northeast of the Wiesentheider municipal area in the district of Reupelsdorf , on a Mühlbach that is fed by the Schwarzach river . The municipality of Volkach begins further to the north , the district of Eichfeld is closest to the Fuchsenmühle. In the northwest is Laub , a district of Prichsenstadt , which is connected to the mill by the Schwarzach. The extensive delineation of Laub also protrudes close to the Fuchsenmühle in the south. The southwest is occupied by Reupelsdorf, which has now grown together with the mill (the access road is called Zur Fuchsenmühle ). The extensive forest areas around Reupelsdorf can be found in the west.

history

The history of the mill and its owners can be traced in great detail. The Fuchsenmühle was built in 1543 when Michel Schleicher was erecting the building. Schleicher received a letter and seal from the landlord of Reupelsdorf, the Benedictine monastery Münsterschwarzach , to run the mill. Every year he had to give the monastery four carnival chickens and four Malter Korn. In 1543 Claus Apfelbach became the new owner of the mill. In the following years the owners changed frequently.

In 1589 and 1590, three men owned the Fuchsenmühle: In addition to Bernard Linck and Hans Weissensche, Hans Seuboth also owned the facility. The name Fuchsenmühle only came into being in the 18th century. Around 1718 the mill came into the possession of Lorentz Fuchs. The buildings on the Schwarzach experienced the deepest cut in 1895. Before that there was a flour mill for centuries , which was supposed to ensure the supply of the local population. Valentin Müller set up a sawmill in the mill.

As part of the community of Reupelsdorf, Fuchsenmühle was incorporated into Wiesentheid on July 1, 1972.

Today the Fuchsenmühle is the last plant of its kind in the Wiesentheider municipality that is still in operation. The water power is used to drive an Ossberger turbine , which ensures the power supply to the sawmill. The descendants of Valentin Müller still own the facility. The mill building has been converted into a residential building. The sawmill was housed in the outbuildings, which were rebuilt in the 20th century.
