Untung Surapati (born 1660 ; died December 5, 1706 ) was an Indonesian fighter in Java who led several revolts against the Dutch East India Company . In 1975 he was awarded the title of National Hero of Indonesia .
The Dutch writer Melati van Java (1853–1927), who was born in Java , deals with the fate of the guerrilla leader in two of her "historical-romantic" novels from the history of Java ("historically romantic schets uit de geschiedenis van Java"): Soerapati and Van slaaf tot above .
That in Indonesia sold DDR - warship Ribnitz-Damgarten , a corvette of Parchim class , was from Indonesia to him in Untung Suropati renamed.
