The Upper Ammonoosuc River is a left tributary of the Connecticut River in the US state of New Hampshire .

The Upper Ammonoosuc River has its origin in the small mountain lake Pond of Safety in the White Mountains about 10 km west of Gorham . The river flows north. The small Godfrey Pond reservoir is located on the upper reaches . A short distance downstream, the West Branch Upper Ammonoosuc River flows into the river. The New Hampshire State Route 110 runs for several kilometers along the river. The North Branch Upper Ammonoosuc River meets the river on the right side. The Upper Ammonosuuc River is gradually turning west. At Stark , the river is spanned by a covered bridge . The Upper Ammonoosuc River passes Groveton , where another covered bridge spans it. There are two hydropower plants on the river in Groveton. A few kilometers further downstream is the confluence with the Connecticut River. The Upper Ammonoosuc River has a length of 68 km.
