Upper Killeyan , also called Upper Killean , is a small scattered settlement on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . It is located in the southwest of the Oa Peninsula near the Mull of Oa . The closest localities include Lower Killeyan, one kilometer north, and Kinnabus, 1.5 km northeast . The settlement forms the end of a road that leads via Coillabus and Cragabus to Port Ellen .
Upper Killeyan itself consists of only a few houses. In 1861 61 people were counted in Upper Killeyan, who were divided into 13 families. Of these, 29 were male and 32 female. In 1882, eight uncovered and seven covered buildings were counted in Upper Killeyan. In 1981 there were two thoughtful and six thoughtless. According to reports from 1961, there is a cairn about seven meters in diameter south of Upper Killeyan near the coast . Later studies could not confirm this.
