The Urak ( Russian Урак ) is a 229 km long tributary of the Sea of Okhotsk in the Khabarovsk region in the Far East of Russia .

River course

The Urak rises on the western flank of the Urak plateau at an altitude of about 900  m . The Urak flows mainly in an easterly direction through the mountains. He records the tributaries Utschulikaan , Kotla , Njut , Taklakan and Ketanda from the left and Chotortschan and Jurowka from the right. For the last 50 km the Urak flows in a south-southeast direction towards the sea. The Ochota runs 13 km further east on this route. The Urak finally flows into the Sea of ​​Okhotsk 23 km west of Okhotsk . At the mouth there is a lagoon-like bay, which is separated from the open sea by a spit . To the east of the estuary is the village of Wostrezowo .

Hydrology

The urac drains an area of ​​10,700 km². The mean discharge is 108 m³ / s.

Wildlife

The Urak river system uses various salmon fish for spawning , including silver salmon , ketal salmon , pink salmon and sockeye salmon . Other fish in the river are dolly varden trout , salvelinus leucomaenis and grayling .
