The Url is an approx. 35 km long river in Lower Austria that flows through the Mostviertel and flows into the Ybbs from the left just before Amstetten . The water is used for white water paddling , whereby Ertl is a good entry point. A larger place on the upper reaches is Sankt Peter in der Au . The fish population includes rainbow trout and brown trout , grayling , char , aitel , nose , barbel , pike and perch . Kingfishers , lapwing and herons can be found on the river . The Urltaler fruit wine ( must ) is also known .

A new fish pass was installed at the small hydropower plant in Pilsing, a hamlet in the city of Amstetten . In addition to the snail, which is used to generate electricity, there was also a snail with which fish and other living beings can move into the upper water. Initial tests show that the rate of ascent is five times higher than that of conventional systems.
