Urlaub in Polen is a music project founded in Cologne in 1999 .
history
Vacation in Poland initially consisted of drummer Oliver Hilse and the multi-instrumentalist and guitarist of the band Ken , Georg Brenner. An EP was released in 1999. With Jan Philipp Janzen (also a member of the Von Spar band ) as the new drummer, five albums were then released, the first two (Parsec, 2002; White Spot, 2004) on the independent label Rakete and bluNoise (both in Rough Trade sales) ), the third, Health and Welfare, 2006 at Tomlab . Liquid (Strange Ways / Indigo) was released in February 2009. With the release of the last album Boldstriker in 2011 the breakup of the band was announced. The band had their last official appearance for the time being on August 18, 2012 at the Voice of Art Festival in Hohenstein-Ernstthal . In 2017, however, the band will play concerts again.
style
The music of the project was referred to as " noise pop".
Band name
In an interview, the musician Georg Brenner explained that the band name came from an encounter with an acquaintance whose musical style reminded the band of his drastic experiences during a vacation in Poland. Like a running gag , the musicians gradually adopted this term as a band name.
