House music (label)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hausmusik was a southern German record label that existed from 1991 to 2007.

Within the underground music scene, the label name stands for its own style of music and, above all, for unusual record covers, some of which were handcrafted. The founder and owner of the label was Wolfgang Petters from Landsberg am Lech .

history

At the end of the 1980s, a music formation called the Fred Stocker Quartet existed in Landsberg am Lech . Back then, the musicians met weekly in the Wechslerhof near Landsberg. The line-up changed occasionally, sometimes with four guitars , one or two drums and a bass . In the summer of 1990, Wolfgang Petters, who was also a musician of the Fred Stocker Quartet, brought a four-track tape recorder to the Wechslerhof. For he had long wanted to record a few songs. Petters organized some musicians from the Landsberg district and the neighboring Weilheim district , including Micha and Markus Acher from the band The Notwist . The first recordings were made not only in Wechslerhof, but also in his living room and bedroom.

New bands and projects were constantly forming, some only existed for the recordings, others were also active beyond that and even achieved national recognition; for example Village of Savoonga or Fred Is Dead (emerged from the Fred Stocker Quartet).

Afterwards friends and acquaintances made the record covers for the first record release. The record was then released on September 14, 1991 at Wechslerhof. Since the record was then played by various radio stations, the radio show Zündfunk ( Bayern 2 ) planned a concert broadcast and invited the house music team, which (supported by the professional work of The Notwist) passed this test.

Over time, the Payola and Kollaps record labels emerged in the Weilheim region and later founded a label community with house music. They supported each other quite well and each of these labels benefited from the contacts made by the other partners. So it was possible from the beginning to exist beyond the big music industry . On October 25th to 27th, 1996, a big anniversary festival took place in Landsberg to mark the fifth anniversary of Hausmusik im Quere . In the short time since 1991 the label has had a large following from Vienna to Berlin .

From spring 1998 Hausmusik began to appear as a distributor . At this point, Thomas Morr joined Wolfgang Petters and helped him to expand sales. Thomas Morr then founded his own label called Morr Music in the summer of 1999 . At the beginning Hausmusik supported this new label with already existing distribution channels outside of Germany, later the support ran back in the other direction. This collaboration has remained an important part of the work from then to the present.

In May 2000 Hausmusik moved from Landsberg to Munich , where a record shop was opened and a recording studio was set up in the basement. On September 14, 2001, the ten-year concert took place in Munich. At the same time Hausmusik released the record package "do you think that i'll be different when you're through?", On which most of the house music "family" can be heard, as well as guests from Kollaps and Payola. In September 2007, Wolfgang Petters announced in an interview that Hausmusik will close its business by the end of the year.

On October 4th, 2008, Petters and his former employee at Hausmusik Heinz-Peter Lauf in Munich opened “Hausmunik”. It is an espresso bar with an integrated record tray. When it comes to the records, CDs, T-shirts, comics and books on offer, special emphasis is placed on Munich artists, labels and publishers.
