Markus Acher (born June 24, 1967 in Weilheim ) is a German singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer.

Markus Acher studied clarinet, saxophone, guitar and drums as well as musicology, American studies and German studies. As a guitarist and lyricist, he is a member of the indie band The Notwist . He is also the bassist of the electronic band Lali Puna and the drummer of the electro-jazz combo Tied & Tickled Trio . He is also a member of the experimental band Village of Savoonga . As a solo artist he works under the name Rayon . He also occasionally plays, just like his brother Micha Acher , for the New Orleans Dixie Stompers of his father Julius Acher; there he sits on the drums. He also worked with various artists such as Carrera (in whose song Time of the Year he sings and plays guitar), Alias (for whose song Unseen Sights he composed the lyrics, which he also sings in the piece) or Zucchini Drive (where he plays guitar and sings in the piece Sombre City ).
He wrote soundtracks under the name Rayon. As a composer he continued to write the music for feature and documentary films together with his brother Micha; In 2010 he received the gold film music award for the film Sturm .
