Urs Marti (born June 28, 1967 in Chur ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ) and entrepreneur .

Professional background

After attending primary schools in Chur , Urs Marti trained to become a Swiss Certified Real Estate Trustee in Zurich . At the age of 27 he founded his own company MATA Treuhand AG with headquarters in Chur and branches in Arosa and Winterthur . As part of his professional activity, Urs Marti founded several companies and participated in existing ones.

He held major board mandates at SUVA (Schweizerische Unfallversicherungsanstalt Luzern) from 1999 to 2011, on the board of the AHV / IV / EO compensation fund in Geneva from 1999 to 2011, at the HWZ Zurich School of Economics , first as a board delegate and then afterwards as Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2004 to 2012, and in various mandates in the association of the Swiss Commercial Association, such as the founding president of the Swiss Institute for Business Administration Zurich AG and the real estate company of the Commercial Association, with which he built the "Sihlhof" university building in Zurich as the founder .

In his hometown of Chur, Urs Marti was the defining president of the ibW Höhere Fachschule Südostschweiz (2002–2012), one of the most important educational institutes in the region.

Urs Marti was also active on the board of several organizations for the disadvantaged or disabled.

Political career

In 2000, Urs Marti was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Graubünden , to which he is still a member. Among other things, he chaired the GPK Business Audit Commission (2007/2008) and the KSS Commission for State Policy and Strategy (2010–2012).

In 2012 he was elected mayor elected the city of Chur. At the age of 45 at the time of the election, Urs Marti is one of the youngest mayors of the city of Chur. With the election as mayor of the city, Urs Marti resigned from his various professional offices and tasks.

Urs Marti is married to Chantal Marti-Müller and has two daughters. His brother is the Berlin-based actor Beat Marti and his niece is the former Miss Switzerland Nadine Vinzens .
