Urs Schaub

Urs Schaub (born April 18, 1951 in Basel ) is a Swiss director and writer .

Life

Urs Schaub first studied German, art history and philosophy in Basel and Zurich. He broke off his studies and then attended the Zurich Acting Academy . From 1979 he worked as a freelance director in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. From 1992 to 1996 he was director at the Staatstheater Darmstadt . This was followed by teaching assignments at the Berlin University of the Arts and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In the 1999/2000 season he led the drama at the Stadttheater Bern together with Nicola May , and from 2003 to 2008 he was director of the Basel barracks . From 2006 to 2010 he also worked for the Swiss Television Literature Club.

Schaub has published four crime novels so far . Their main character is - in the "tradition" of Glauser's Wachtmeister Studer and Dürrenmatts Bärlach - the commissioner Simon Tanner from the Bernese Seeland .

In 2014 he also published My Father's Laughing with stories from his childhood.
