Ursula Langmayr

Ursula Langmayr (born September 27, 1974 in Linz ) is an Austrian opera singer (soprano).

Life

Langmayr grew up in Leonding near Linz. After the Matura ( Abitur ) at Adalbert Stifter grammar school she studied singing with Ingrid Janser-Mayr and Wolfgang Holzmair at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. She has performed under well-known conductors, orchestras and artists at numerous festivals, festival weeks and recitals. She works regularly with the Vienna Philharmonic . She participated in the world premiere of “Melancholia” by the composer Georg Friedrich Haas at the Opéra Garnier Paris. Together with Kurt Azesberger she produced “Ich, Hiob” by Thomas Daniel Schlee , one of the most successful stage works in recent Austrian opera history. During the Carinthian Summer 2010 she sang “Maria” in the world premiere in the opera “The Birth of the Baptist” by the Finnish composer Jyrki Linjama. In her CD “What Can We Poor Females Do?” She and Christa Ratzenböck present amorous duets about love and passion - u. a. by Henry Purcell , Gioacchino Rossini , Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , Johannes Brahms , Ernest Chausson and Benjamin Britten .

Ursula Langmayr has been teaching singing and voice training at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna since October 2016.
