Ute Maria Christine Koczy (born June 9, 1961 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1980, Ute Koczy studied empirical cultural studies , ethnology and geography at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen , which she completed in 1987 as a Magistra Artium . She then worked as a development policy advisor at Welthaus Bielefeld.

Ute Koczy is married.

Political party

She has been a member of the Greens since 1983 .

From 2004 to 2005 she was the spokesperson for the Federal Working Group North / South .

Since 2014 she has been one of the two chairmen of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe district association again . She held this party office from 1998 to 2005.

MPs

From 1989 to 1995 Ute Koczy was a member of the council of her place of residence in Lemgo .

From 1995 to 2005 she was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 2000 to 2005 she was chair of the Committee for European and One World Policy.

From 2005 to 2013 she was a member of the German Bundestag and during this time worked as spokeswoman for the Bundestag faction Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen for development policy. Ute Koczy received her mandate through the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia in the two electoral terms of the 16th and 17th German Bundestag . In the 2013 federal election , her number 15 on the party list was not enough to move into the German Bundestag again.

In the 2017 federal election , Koczy ran in the Lippe I constituency and was ranked 13th on her party's state list. Only the first 12 places on the state list moved into the Bundestag.

Ute Koczy has been working in the World Bank team of the NGO Urgewald since April 2018.
