Uwe Günzler

Uwe Günzler (born October 26, 1941 in Dortmund ; † March 6, 2008 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German journalist and television presenter .

Life

After passing high school at Dreikönigsgymnasium in Cologne , Günzler began training as an actor and director . After various smaller engagements at stages in Cologne and Frankfurt am Main , in 1967 he was one of the founders of the Bergisches Kammertheater in Cologne, which existed until 1971.

At the end of the 1960s, Günzler turned away from acting and started working as a radio journalist for Deutsche Welle . In 1972 he switched to Hessischer Rundfunk (hr) and took on an editorial position with a focus on regional programming. During the 1970s he developed the successful radio program Unterwegs in Hessen and was already in front of the camera as a moderator of the Hessenschau .

From 1981 Günzler only worked on television, from the mid-1980s also as the editor-in-chief of the Hessenschau. For more than twenty years he shaped the program Stadt talk des hr, which he helped develop and directed as a presenter. During his time as an editor, Günzler primarily drove forward the regional program of the hr and designed programs such as Hessenreporter and Ferien in Hessen . At the end of April 2004, Günzler retired.

Günzler died on March 6, 2008 after a brief, serious illness in Frankfurt am Main.
