Uwe Heimowski

Uwe Heimowski (* 1964 in Hämelerwald ) is a German theologian and author , as well as a former educator , university professor and politician . Since 2016 he has been the representative of the German Evangelical Alliance at the German Bundestag and the federal government .

Life

education and profession

Heimowski grew up in North Frisia. Because he suffered from addiction to gambling , he left high school before graduating from high school, began training as an educator after secondary school and dropped out as well. During the therapy he found his Christian faith and was able to overcome his addiction. He published his story in 1989 in his first book In the Land of Three Suns. My way out of gambling addiction . He was only able to complete his training in 1990, did his community service with the Salvation Army in Hamburg and later worked at an AIDS counseling center.

Thanks to a Hamburg model project, he was able to study theology at the University of Hamburg from 1993 and later at the Universities of Basel , Leipzig and Halle without a high school diploma . He continued to work as an educator, most recently from 1999 as educational director in the Scholl youth home in Bad Köstritz .

From 2001 Heimowski was in part-time as a pastor in Gera Free Church G26 hired and taught next to the University of Cooperative Education Gera on social and business ethics .

From 2009 to 2016 he was a human rights and public relations officer for Frank Heinrich , a member of the Bundestag in Chemnitz . In 2014 he ran for the first time in the election for the city council in Gera and won a seat. He gave up this post in May 2018 because it was not compatible with his job at the German Evangelical Alliance.

In 2016 Heimowski became the representative of the German Evangelical Alliance at the German Bundestag and the federal government , succeeding Wolfgang Baake in this position .

Private

Heimowski and his wife have been married since 1995, live in Gera and have five children.
