Uwe Hessel
Uwe Hessel (born June 24, 1961 in Röbel / Müritz ) is a former soccer player who played in the GDR league for the BSG Stahl Brandenburg in the 1980s .
Athletic career
Hessel first appeared in national football when, at the age of 22, he moved from SG Dynamo Röbel from the third-class district league Neubrandenburg to BSG Lok / Armaturen Prenzlau in the second-class GDR league for the 1983/84 season. There he was used as a midfielder. After Prenzlau had to relegate in the course of the reduction of the GDR league, Hessel joined the GDR league club 1. FC Union Berlin at the beginning of the 1984/85 season . There he was also listed as a midfielder in the official line-up of the 1st team, but was not used in the GDR league for the entire season. Hessel then made another change and went back to the district league for BSG Motor Ludwigsfelde . There he managed to return to the GDR league in 1986. In the following two seasons he belonged to the regular team in the league point games as a defender, in 1986/87 he was used 30 times in the 34 point games, in 1987/88 he played 33 point games and also scored a goal.
The season 1988/89 began the 1.88 m tall Hessel with nine point games and one goal for Motor Ludwigsfelde. After the 10th game day of the GDR league, he moved to the upper division BSG Stahl Brandenburg in early November 1988. There was an urgent need for new defensive players after the steelworkers had conceded 18 goals in the first nine game days. In the following five point games, Hessel was used by the Brandenburg trainer Peter Kohl in the defense of BSG Stahl. In February 1989, Hessel fell ill for a long time, so that he was absent for several months. Only in September 1989 he was used again in the league team, but already in October he played his eighth and last point game for BSG Stahl.
From 1990 to 1993 Hessel played at VfL Sindelfingen in the amateur league of Baden-Württemberg . After the descent of Sindelfingen, Hessel moved to the top league Baden-Württemberg GSV Maichingen .
