Uwe Kirchner (born December 11, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player who played in the GDR league in 1985 and 1986 for BSG Stahl Brandenburg .

Athletic career

Kirchner joined the youth team of BSG Stahl Brandenburg in 1977 at the age of 15. He played his first competitive game in the men's team as a junior on April 17, 1981, the last game of the GDR league season 1980/81. He was officially registered for the GDR league team for the 1982/83 season. In this season, however, he could no longer be used because he had to undergo knee surgery in the summer of 1982 and was drafted for military service in November of that year. During his time in the army, he was able to play football with the lower-class army sports community Vorwärts Hohenstücke.

In the summer of 1984 he returned to Stahl Brandenburg. The BSG Stahl had just been promoted to the GDR league, but the 1.77 m tall Kirchner was initially used in the second team, which played in the third-rate district league. For the 1985/86 season he moved up to the league squad, but only played two point games at the beginning of the season for the unfit striker Frank Jeske . 1986/87 Kirchner was absent again in the league squad and was only used three times as a substitute in league point games during this season. On November 5, 1986 he was substituted on in the UEFA Cup match Stahl Brandenburg - IFK Göteborg (0-2) in the 76th minute.

After Kirchner had only been used in the second team in the 1986/87 season, he moved to the GDR league club Motor Babelsberg in the summer of 1988 . There he completed eleven point games and rose at the end of the season with the team in the district league. There was no return to higher-class football for Kirchner.
